This is the website of a disillusioned grumpy old man, who can remember the time when this was a great country to live in. A time when the people who run it went into politics because they genuinely wished to improve the quality of life for their constituents and the country as a whole. A time when you didn’t have to make your home as secure as the local bank. A time when you could safely walk the streets at night. A time when children had a childhood. A time when fat cats and fat kids were unheard of. A time when people cared about other people.
Politicians A recent survey showed that the vast majority of the general public has lost all trust in the people we appointed to run our country. I will be having a close look at how they have earned this reputation, and in particular, what they said and what they really meant. I haven't yet worked out the difference between spin and lies.
Childhood
I was born n 1936 and lived in the Lozells area of Birmingham, an area which is always in the news for all the wrong reasons. Gang warfare, a knife and gun culture, and of course, drugs. I want to think back to my childhood and to see how it differs from the experiences of the youth of today.
Grumpy
You bet I am grumpy. I resent the fat cats getting fat golden handshakes for failure. I resent ministers who are not sacked for incompetence, just moved on to make a cock-up in some other department. I resent drivers who block public footpaths and illegally use disabled parking bays. In fact I reckon that I will fill a few pages with the things that get up my nose.
Siamese
In this mad crazy world of wars, drugs, gangs, killings, poverty, fat-cats and corruption, there is someone who will give you unconditional love. Someone who is honest and has no hidden agenda, someone who doesn’t understand spin, unless it’s a game you play, someone who will always be around when you need them and will ask for so little in return. I will devote a couple of pages to our two friends, Cheeco and Misty.
About Me
A section of bits and pieces on anything and everything. Poems, quotes, or something that I find strange, interesting or just plain stupid.
The Search
This is the story of what happens when at the age of 65, I decided to try and trace my natural family. Was my mom alive, what does she look like, and do I have any brothers or sisters?
Thought of the month
Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow. Do not walk behind me, I may not lead.
Walk beside me and be my friend.
